Replace Outdated Ladders with Low-Level Access Lifts

Ladders and scaffolding have been used to reach work at height for thousands of years. Yet the reality is that these tools are not only inefficient to use, but also less safe.

Ladder Facts

Ladder leaning against wallOften, ladders result in compliance issues, safety concerns and lost time. They account for roughly 20% of workplace fall injuries—a number that jumps to 81% in the construction industry—and as a result of ladder use, about 90,000 people per year receive emergency room treatment.

Although it’s easy to argue that ladders are still useful tools when used properly, the numbers show that proper use can fall by the wayside on busy job sites. In 2018, for example, ladders were listed as one of OSHA’s Top 10 Violations with 2,780 citations issued.

Low-Level Access Lifts

Concerns about the use of ladders has given rise to a new category of lifts created specifically to help you easily reach tasks at heights up to 20 ft. Designed using the same safety and productivity standards that are applied to lifts for extreme heights, low-level access lifts give you the benefits of 360-degree hands-free access, standard lanyard attachment points, tool trays and enclosed platforms.

Plus, small man lifts can replace a range of ladders, including single-sided stepladders, twin stepladders, podium stepladders and platform stepladders. They can also be used in place of stationary and rolling scaffolding.

Applications for Low-Level Access Lifts

Low-level access lifts by application

Low-level access lifts aren’t one-size-fits-all. There are many options to choose from, whether you need a highly portable lift or an eco-friendly crank lift. These lifts allow you to fit into tight spaces and reposition easily, while being lightweight enough for use on sensitive flooring and in elevators.

Some common applications for low-level access lifts include:

  • Performing facility maintenance in healthcare, education, data centers and office settings
  • Completing contractors’ tasks like drywall work, painting, HVAC installation and electrical/mechanical work
  • Refitting retail displays and updating seasonal décor
  • Maintaining production equipment in manufacturing environments
