JLG began because John L. Grove had a vision. Not only did he set the tone for our company, but he raised the bar for our future leaders and the industry as well. Here’s just a small sampling of the ways we continue to innovate.

1969

JLG Industries, Inc. is founded by John L. Grove.

1970

JLG manufactures the aerial work platform and changes how the world works.

1976

The first JLG scissor lift is introduced.

1977

JLG expands into Europe; opens European headquarters in the United Kingdom.

1981

JLG introduces Oscillating axles as an option for boom and scissor lifts, improving maneuverability.

1983

JLG opens support operations in Australia for customers throughout Asia and the Pacific Rim.

1986

JLG’s 10,000th boom lift comes off the assembly line in McConnellsburg, PA.

1988

JLG patents the “Extend-A-Reach” feature, giving equipment users greater flexibility for platform placement.

1991

JLG launches the 150HAX, the industry’s first 45.72 m (150 ft) boom.

1994

SkyTrak introduces the Stabil-Trak system.

1994

JLG electric boom lifts bring the best battery performance in the industry.

1996

JLG introduces 21 new products at CONEXPO ’96 that redefine the industry, including the first mobile vertical lift.

1997

JLG opens an advanced scissor lift manufacturing plant to keep pace with demand.

1998

The 50,000th scissor lift comes off the assembly line in Bedford, PA.

1999

JLG unveils the only fuel-cell powered boom lift in existence.

1999

JLG acquires Gradall, a leading manufacturer of telehandlers, adding telescopic material handlers to the JLG product line.

JLG acquires a facility in Shippensburg, PA.

2000

JLG introduces the first 60-foot electric boom lift, an environmentally friendly machine with the greatest reach in the industry.

LG crosses the $1 billion sales milestone.

JLG unveils SkyWelder® the worlds first integrated AWP welder and other Workstation in the Sky™ accessories.

The 100,000th scissor lift comes off the assembly line in Bedford, PA.

JLG establishes shared services center in Amsterdam.

JLG opens manufacturing facility in Belgium.

JLG expands product line to include all-wheel steer telehandlers, European-design telehandlers and the 135-foot boom lift.

JLG acquires Lull®, SkyTrak™, military-design telehandlers and remanufacturing operations in Tonneins, France.

JLG acquires Manlift, including Delta Manlift and Liftlux.

JLG launches ServicePlus® initiative in Houston, TX.

2005

JLG enters into a global alliance with Caterpillar, Inc. to manufacture, sell and support all Caterpillar telehandlers.

JLG Industries, Inc. is acquired by Oshkosh Truck Corporation.

JLG launches the LiftPod®, an award-winning portable aerial work platform.

JLG breaks ground on an advanced manufacturing facility in Tianjin, China.

JLG introduces ClearSky®, a connected asset-management tool.

JLG introduces the award winning 1500SJ, the world’s first straight boom that takes you to 150 ft without a transportation permit for width and height.
